DAY 1

We will go up a 400mt difference in level until the Rossi refuge and then head to Pania della croce where once arrived, contemplating the panorama, we will have our packed lunch. 

Going down to the Rifugio del Freo we cross the Passo degli Alpini that connects various mule tracks to the Foce di Mosceta. The last destination for the overnight stay is the Alpeggio di Puntato, an ancient alpine village of stone huts (partly uninhabited), which rises in a suggestive meadowy basin at about a thousand meters of altitude. It is possible to stay in some of the old shepherds’ houses renovated in wood and stone and used as a shelter or bivouac in the meadow next to the old stone church where we will be dominated by a majestic panorama of imposing peaks such as Mount Corchia, Mount Freddone, Pizzo delle Saette and Pania della Croce.

DAY 2

The awakening in Puntato is a complete immersion in nature “simple and quiet”, without special effects but to be lived intensely. Located in the heart of the valley of Arni it is one of the most significant places and one of the wildest contexts of the Apuan Alps. Going up towards Fociomboli we can discover some of the “hidden peaks”; of this area such as M. Freddone: squeezed between M. Corchia and the Panie group, it isn’t very frequented but enjoys of incredible beauty, both for the panorama and for the varied and technical path of ascent.

The return will be a pleasant up and down, first along the hidden side of Corchia, then back to Ref. Del Freo entering the beech forest at the foot of the imposing Pizzo delle Saette until Piglionico.
